AF Sessions is Back!
Three bands inducted into the AF Sessions
Blue Meadow, Smokey Robotic, & Late Cambrian
AF Sessions is the Artsy Fartsy Show’s curated music series of hand selected musicians and bands invited to perform for a small intimate audiences. AF Sessions is a cross between a live intimate in-studio concert and a demo recording session exclusive to the AF Sessions.
The Artsy Fartsy Show is proud to join The Tank NYC. The sessions are now on-stage at The Tank NYC (151 West 48th Street) a Manhattan based non-profit arts presenter. Curating across all disciplines, The Tank provides an artistic home to both new and established artists who are engaged in the pursuit of new ideas.
Previously, AF Sessions took place once a month at the WBAI 99.5FM Performance Studio, one-hour before the live broadcast of the Artsy Fartsy Show which airs Tuesdays at 2pm. Audiences members were invited to join the audience for the exclusive in-studio concert featuring bands such as Milano, The Lisps who are now on touring performances of their musical Futurity, and Doris Cellar of the Freelance Whales. Monthly, the hand-picked bands on the verge of blowing up performed during the live broadcast of the Artsy Fartsy Show following the session.

Although the experience of being apart of the live studio audience will not be possible; more audience will be able to take part hear three amazing, up-coming bands in one night. each band will be featured on the Artsy Fartsy Show’s AF Session special broadcasts.
The June 2012 AF Sessions Inductees:
Smokey Robotic is a four-member independent artist collective backed by the multi-platinum producing duo of Illmind and Konrad OldMoney. The NYC and Vancouver, BC -based musicians are breaking new ground with a genre of music they call “Superfuture,” which transcends reality with a style that incorporates, but is not limited to, a blend of hip-hop, soul, pop, and electronic. In just under a year and a half, Smokey Robotic has recorded over 200 songs, filmed 18 videos, and joined forces with renowned artists like Redman, Eek-A-Mouse, Skyzoo, and Yoon Mi Rae & Tiger JK (Korea). Additionally, Smokey Robotic has collaborated with numerous visual artists from across the globe, garnering the attention of major media outlets like The Atlantic, New York Magazine, NY Post, and TMZ.
In addition, prominent music blogs such as Pigeons & Planes, The DJ Booth, CollegeDJ.net, kevinnottingham.com, 2DopeBoyz.com, Mathhattan, and more, who have commented on Smokey Robotic’s innovative sound and approach, as well as the art and vision that comes with it.
Over the past year, the group has been featured in a national TV campaign for Movado watches, charted number one on The Hype Machine Twitter Music Chart, chosen as the Top A&R Pick on CrazedHits.com, and received over 1M views on YouTube. They also produced a #1 song on Korean music charts, which was followed by the release of the music video, in collaboration with “The Creators Project” (Intel and VICE), a global celebration of art and technology featuring visionary artists from around the world that are pushing the boundaries of creative expression.
Winner of the 2012 Artsy Fartsy Battle of the Bands, dubbed by comedian Harrison Greenbaum as The “black” Beatles, Blue Meadow is a soulful, rock group from the Bronx that literally took the audiences breath away.
Late Cambrian is an indie rock band out of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. John N Wlaysewski (Flying Machines, The Attorneys) convened with Colin Schiller (Drummer) in January of 2011 to record what would become their debut album, The Last Concert. John played guitar, bass and synthesizer on this debut with Colin lending his drumming and percussion duties. The first five songs on the CD were tracked January 8-10. The next four were tracked in February with O lending her high airy backing vocals to three of the final tunes. The band eventually added Nunzio Moudatsos (A Crimson Affair) as their bass player. The unit intact, Late Cambrian took their melodic indie pop/rock sound to the stage in late March of 2011.
Their song Ryan Gosling has shot to the top of the online blogosphere.
